A new header for Plan

The menu you use to switch between the gyms and organizations you program for is moving up out of the left panel and into the header. Same job, new spot. And for Workout Tracking gyms, it brings shortcuts to popular actions with it.

What’s moving

Today the menu sits in the left panel, just above your Programming Tracks. When this update reaches your gym, it moves to the top left of the page, where the btwb logo is now. Click your gym’s name there to switch between everything you plan for. The spot it used to occupy becomes a plain Programming Tracks heading over your tracks.

We’re moving it so the Plan page lines up with a change coming later. What that means depends on your gym type, so here’s both.

If you’re a Workout Tracking gym

The menu moves, and it picks up a Manage section on the way: a short set of gym actions, the ones you’d normally go to coach.btwb.com for, available right on the Plan page.

We’re phasing coach.btwb.com out in favor of something better, and this is one of the first steps. Nothing goes away. The common actions you take today are all still there, they just also live where you already go to program or check programming. One place for the important things.

If you’re an All-in-One gym

The same move, with one extra benefit: the new Plan header is the same menu you already use on admin.btwb.com. Same pill, same menu, same Manage tiles, each taking you to the admin page you’d expect. Switching between Plan and admin stops feeling like switching products.

If you’re a gym member, or an individual btwb user

Nothing to do here. The new header is for the people who run a gym, so if you’re a member of one, or you use btwb on your own without a gym, you won’t see it. Your Plan page stays the way it is: your tracks, your calendar, your programming, all where they were. The only thing you might notice is that the small dropdown above your tracks, the one that only ever said You, becomes a plain Programming Tracks heading.

What the new menu looks like

What’s in Manage

You only see the tiles you can use, so the set depends on your gym and your role.

Planning for one athlete

This flow changes a little, for the better. Before, choosing Plan Workout on an athlete flipped the menu to that person, which made it look like you’d left your gym. Now the header stays on your gym. The athlete’s profile opens on the right as it always has, their personal track shows under Programming Tracks, and a small Planning for card tells you whose calendar you’re on.

Close the card (by tapping on the X icon), or click Athletes in the member profile panel, and you’re back to gym programming. Adding a workout while the card is up puts it on the athlete’s track, and their logged results show on the calendar the same as before.

Planning for yourself

The old menu had a You option for jumping to your own personal track. The header’s list doesn’t, because it’s a list of gyms and organizations. Planning for yourself now works the same way as planning for any athlete: open Athletes in the right panel, find your own name, and choose Plan Workout. You get the same Planning for card with your name on it, and closing it takes you back to the gym.
