To date our Fitness Level is our favorite and most popular feature. It embodies everything we are striving to accomplish at Beyond The Whiteboard. The feature was designed to give athletes more information and analysis about their workouts and their physical capacity. For every athlete on our site, we calculate their “Fitness Level”, which is a single number from 1-99 that represents their overall Fitness. The number captures how an athlete’s performance stacks up to the rest of the community.

Fitness Level Overview

In our Fitness Level feature, we look at your performance on specific lifts, runs, rows and workouts (Metcons). For the lifts, runs, and rows, we automatically pull in your best results, regardless of what workouts you post the efforts under. For the four “Metcon” categories, we maintain specific lists of workouts (referred to as “Fitness Level Workouts”). Up until now, we have been looking at Rx’d results from 113 different Fitness Level workouts over these four categories (Bodyweight, Light, Heavy, and Long). Based on these results, we calculate your Category Levels for each of these Metcon categories. To ensure statistical accuracy, we only include workouts that have over a threshold of results posted.

Over time, new workouts become popular enough to be included, and so we update our lists to include a broader variety of workouts. We are happy to announce that we have added an additional 175 workouts to our list of Fitness Level workouts. This brings the grand total to 288 Fitness Level workouts, not including all of the workouts that give you credit for the other four categories (Power Lifts, Olympic Lifts, Speed, Endurance).

You can view all 288 Fitness Level Workouts by going to “Explore > Workouts” on BTWB, clicking the “Fitness Level” filter, and selecting “All”. From there you can easily Log any of these workouts, or quickly “Plan” them to add them to your workout calendar. You can select other options to further filter down the list.

Changes To Your Score

If you’ve done any of these new Fitness Level workouts as Rx’d in the last 6 months, you will notice some changes to your Fitness Level over the next few weeks. This is good news, because the more results we have for you, the more accurate your Fitness Level will be. In this case, a sudden drop in an overall Fitness Level score, or in any of the individual category scores, doesn’t represent a reduced fitness capacity, but rather a more accurate representation of one’s actual capacity. You don’t want the highest number. You do want the most accurate number.
