Workout TV Has a New Home

A fitness studio with people engaged in a workout. One person is using an exercise machine while others are on rowing machines. A display screen shows workout details in the background, and the area is decorated with flags and gym equipment.

We’re excited to officially launch the new Workout TV app.

Workout TV itself isn’t new (you can use it now at btwb.tv), but this new app is the future of the experience moving forward.

And it’s available today.

Why We Built a Separate App

Google doesn’t allow multiple Chromecast experiences to work properly inside the same app. And we didn’t want gym owners to suddenly be forced away from WODscreen.

WODscreen still works well for a lot of gyms, and we wanted to preserve that experience.

At the same time, Workout TV is a major update to the WODscreen feature and we believe gym owners will really enjoy it.

So instead of forcing everyone into one solution, we split them apart:

  • WODscreen remains inside the btwb app
  • Workout TV now lives in its own dedicated app

This gives gym owners flexibility while also giving us room to move Workout TV forward much faster.

Built for Real Gym Operations

Workout TV is designed to be more than just a screen showing the workout.

It’s built around how gyms actually operate day to day.

With Workout TV, you can:

  • Run your class directly from the screen (Class screen)
  • Highlight birthdays and Committed Club members
  • Show leaderboards and workout activity
  • Display movement GIFs during workouts
  • Switch between different layouts and views
  • Adjust themes and font sizes depending on your setup

The goal wasn’t just to make something that looked good on a TV.

The goal was to build something coaches actually want to use during class.

  • A digital scoreboard displaying a CrossFit session summary, including workout details, participant names, weights lifted, and times for various exercises like bench press and box jump.

Not Just for Gyms

One of the biggest differences between Workout TV and WODscreen is that Workout TV isn’t limited to affiliates.

That means it works just as well in a garage gym setup as it does in a class setting.

Whether you’re coaching 20 athletes or training alone at home, Workout TV gives you a better way to interact with your workout on a larger screen.

Set it up on a TV in your garage. Run it from a tablet. Control it from your phone. Use whatever setup works best for your space.

We wanted this experience to work for everyone, not just gyms.

Flexible Across Devices

Workout TV was designed from the beginning to be flexible.

You can:

  • Control it wirelessly from your phone
  • Hand control off to another coach instantly
  • Run it on a TV, computer, tablet, or phone
  • Use different layouts depending on your class or setup

Our goal is simple:

Make Workout TV work anywhere, on any setup, without requiring gym owners or athletes to think about the technical side of it.

Also Available on Android TV

Workout TV isn’t just available on iPhone and Android phones/tablets. We also have a dedicated Android TV app built specifically for gym TVs and large displays.

If your gym uses a TV running Android TV, you can install the Workout TV app directly on the television for a more seamless in-gym setup.

With the dedicated Android TV app, you can:

  • Control the display directly using your TV remote
  • Sync with the Workout TV mobile app for easier control and customization
  • Display each of the screens and customations available in the mobile app

Additional TV platforms are already in development and coming soon (including Amazon Fire TV).

What’s Next

This launch is the beginning, not the finish line.

Workout TV gives us a foundation to build a much better large-screen experience for gyms and athletes over time. One that works directly across TVs and platforms without needing complicated setup or workarounds.

We’re really excited about where this is headed, and we hope you check it out.
