The time has come! This challenge we’re teaming up with Chris Spealler and his ICON Athlete program with a grip of prizes!
ICON Athlete is a training program that caters to athletes of all fitness levels. 4 different programming options provide direction and purpose to athletes with different goals. We believe that effective training isn’t always “more is better”. Different goals require different levels of volume. These days it’s easy to get lost in the sea of available programming online. Icon Athlete operates as your one-stop shop for everything training related. Included is a subscription to Beyond The Whiteboard for workout tracking, access to IconAthlete.com’s “The Vault” (an ever growing video library of movements, mentality pieces, prehab/rehab work), a private FB group with regular interaction with Chris Spealer, and much more. ICON Athlete elevates itself beyond typical workout programming into a TEAM of like-minded individuals working together to reach the highest levels of human potential.
The Challenge
Chris has created a old school style CrossFit workout that’s simple, yet painfully effective.
AMRAP 10 Minutes:
10 Squat Cleans 95 / 65 lbs
10 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
The Standards
This shouldn’t have to be explained because we expect better from you guys, but we need to make sure everything is fair! We will be doing CrossFit Open standards, but lets cover it.
Squat Cleans
The barbell begins on the ground. Touch and go is permitted. No bouncing or dropping and catching the barbell on the rebound. Once dropped, the barbell must settle on the ground before beginning the next repetition.

The athlete must pass through a full squat with hips below the knees. Receiving the barbell in the bottom of the squat is not required. A power clean or split clean followed by a front squat will be permitted.

The rep is complete when the athlete’s hips and knees are fully extended, and the bar is resting on the shoulders in the front rack position with the elbows in front of the bar.

Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
This is a standard chest-to-bar pull-up. Dead hang, kipping or butterfly pull-ups are allowed, as long as all the requirements are met. The arms must be fully extended at the bottom.

At the top, the chest must clearly come into contact with the bar below the collarbone.

5. If you plan on having a top placing score, be prepared to provide video verification for your score! You cannot claim your victory without proof 🙂 So, record your workout.
That’s that! Just make sure to check these items off before 11:59pm EST on Sunday, February 12, 2017 and you’ll be entered for a chance to win our prizes.
Have fun and good luck!
