The Toughest Couplets In CrossFit

Singlets, couplets, triplets, chippers, AMRAPs and on and on. These are just some of the classic formats of workouts common in the CrossFit community. A “singlet” refers to just a single movement the entire workout. Like the classic CrossFit Girls workout “Grace”: 30 Clean & Jerks @ 135/95 lbs. “Couplets” would be two movements, like “Fran”: 21-15-9 of Thrusters @ 95/65 lbs and Pull-ups. With BTWB, you can keep track of all sorts of characteristics about your workouts and programming from Rep Schemes (low, medium, high), Weight Loads (light, medium heavy), Duration (spring, short, medium, long), and the format of the workout itself.

We have a feature that applies a difficulty rating to every workout. This rating is based off the ratio of prescribed results to modified/scaled results. The more modified/scaled results that a workout has, we can apply reason that the workout has a certain “difficulty” because of the amount of people that can or cannot do it prescribed. Whether this was due to time-constraints, difficulty in skill, or just too heavy, some form of difficulty applies most to these workouts.

We took a look at the top 10 couplets with the highest difficulty rating and found some interesting results. Among some of the workouts, two were prior CrossFit Games events (one from Regionals, one from the Games) and two were classic Hero workouts. This makes sense for some of these to be here, considering most of us mere mortals don’t compare to the fittest on earth.😶

Here’s what the top 10 were.
